Viaalink Relay 1.37.0: every screen of the dashboard

Viaalink Relay 1.37.0 (ASUSTOR package 0.62.8): your own server on your own domain, with a dashboard for devices, people, domains and licenses. A tour of every screen.

Viaalink Relay 1.37.0 (ASUSTOR package 0.62.8) is out. Your Relay is your own server on your own domain: devices connect to it, and what runs on them gets an HTTPS address under your domain. Everything is managed in the Relay’s own dashboard. Here is every screen.

What it does

  • Free: 3 connected devices (up to 10 connections). A Relay runs on Free from its first start.
  • Devices shows every device, online or not, with when it was last seen. People shows the same per person.
  • Invite people by e-mail, through viaalink.com or your own mail server.
  • Activate a license on the NAS: from your browser, with an activation code, or with a license file.
  • Names per person: short (terminal) or with a suffix (terminal-anna). Join codes carry the setting.

A tour of the dashboard

Every person, device, name and domain in these screenshots is invented: relay.example.com, Anna, Ben, Chris and Dana. The last four come from a real ASUSTOR NAS with its details replaced.

Overview page of the Relay dashboard
See at a glance what your Relay is doing: devices online, the names they hold, and whether every domain resolves and serves a certificate.
Devices page listing every device with its person and status
Every device with a key on the Relay, with its person, status, names, connections, when it was last seen and its traffic.
People page with each person's devices
Decide who may connect. Per person: their devices, whether they are online, and the ending their names get; block someone and their devices disconnect at once.
A single-use join code with the command to run on the device
Connect a device: make a single-use join code and run the command it shows in the Viaalink CLI on that device.
Live requests to a name with their durations
Watch requests to a name as they happen, with how long each took. Visitor addresses are hashed; headers, cookies and contents are never shown.
License settings with three ways to activate
Runs on Free from the first start: 3 connected devices (up to 10 connections). Activate a license right here: from your browser, with an activation code, or with a license file.
Audit trail of changes
Every change made in the app or on the command line is in the audit trail: who, when, what it was before. Kept for a year, downloadable as CSV.
Domains page with DNS and certificate checks
One or more domains, with DNS and the certificate checked live for each.
HTTPS certificates from Let's Encrypt through a DNS provider
HTTPS certificates from Let's Encrypt, issued through your DNS provider, with what is running now.
One domain with its DNS records and certificate
Per domain: where it points, the DNS records it needs and whether they are found, and the certificate it serves.
Network ports inside and on the router
Every port the Relay uses, inside and on the router, and whether the NAS forwards it or it needs a rule by hand.

Connect a device

Devices connect with the Viaalink CLI. Under People › Join codes, make a single-use join code and run the command it shows on the device:

bash

Then publish a local port, for example:

bash

See Connect to a Relay.

Get it
